I understand you guys have to set up things and do maintenance, but jeez! If you're planning something big, you should let us all know-it's kind of frustrating to begin a business or personal connection and then have it cut off...

Re: Can there be less 'donut freakouts?'
Fri, October 19, 2007 - 10:43 AMI don't think this was a planned outage. -

Re: Can there be less 'donut freakouts?'
Sat, October 20, 2007 - 8:41 AMunlike that other social-networking-site-owned-by-a-media-magnate the tribe folk seem to be a bit more communicative--does that other place even have a discussion group for feedback?
i do have to admit the outages are kind of irritating, but i think it's not fun for the folks at tribe-central either. i met my gf on this site (thru completely platonic means) so i'll have a soft-spot for it until something really wacky happens... -

Re: Can there be less 'donut freakouts?'
Sat, October 20, 2007 - 3:43 PMOh yeah-I like the site a lot, that why it gets on my nerves-I don't give a shit when MySpace does it ;-)...
It just seems like every third time I'm on here lately, its down... -

That's not maintenance - that's unplanned down time. And the Donut Freak Out static redirect is wearing thin. -
-
Re: Can there be less 'donut freakouts?'
Wed, October 31, 2007 - 12:28 PMcorrection, not wearing thin but worn the fuck out, someone at Tribe better listen up to the complaints and replace that page with an informational page, down time and expected return to service. facebook and myspace suck compared to tribe up and running but a couple more donut freakouts and i will say fuck it for good -

Community discussion on Tribe's future
Thu, November 15, 2007 - 10:05 PMThere is s very active & stimulating discussion among tribers about all this, and input is invited:
people.tribe.net/pi/blog/7...d97c94b047
I for one have little faith unfortunately, and do not believe that membership fees or just donating money, etc. will ultimately be sound solution -- I think the problems are more fundamental.

Re: Can there be less 'donut freakouts?'
Fri, November 16, 2007 - 12:57 PMI'm actually implementing a new "down for maintenance" page this weekend which has more info on it.
I am considering something else in the spirit of "Donut Freak Out", but with less tendency to become obnoxious after seeing it 3 times.
Of course, this may mean it's obnoxious from the very beginning to some folks, but it'll probably give you an idea of what I think is humorous. -

Re: Can there be less 'donut freakouts?'
Fri, November 16, 2007 - 1:33 PMPersonally I'm more of a bagel and muffin man. Perhaps "Pong" on the down-time page so we at least have something to do during the outage? -

Re: Can there be less 'donut freakouts?'
Fri, November 16, 2007 - 2:58 PMYea. A random Flash game might be nice. -

Re: Can there be less 'donut freakouts?'
Tue, November 27, 2007 - 9:33 AMOr a world map showing where the packets are travelling to and from the maintenance page...that would be cool...and informative, no doubt. -

Re: Can there be less 'donut freakouts?'
Wed, November 28, 2007 - 6:32 AMThe flash didn't work. I clicked on the flash block icon the just got a blank place on the screen. My flash works so maybe that one of the ones that only work in winblows?
